Ancient Christian Commentary on Scripture

DrewUniversity

The Operations Manager for the Ancient Christian Commentary on Scripture is a new position staff position at DrewUniversity created in 2000.The Operations Manager oversees and manages all aspects of this $4.5 million project. The Ancient Christian Commentary is a project of the Casperson School for Graduate Studies at Drew University.  The general editor of the Series is Dr. Thomas C. Oden, Henry Anson Buttz Professor of Theology at Drew University.  This  28 volume commentary series, published by InterVarsity Press, is also being published in as many as six other languages around the world.  We are also creating an original language version of each volume consisting of the original Greek, Latin or Syriac from which each quote was translated.  Each volume of the the English commentary consists of short introductions by volume editors to acclimate the reader to the material and the writers of the ancient church.  This introduction is then followed by the ancient church's commentary on Scripture in its own words, with minimal editorial intrusion.  For further information on the series, you can go to our website here at Drew or at InterVarsity Press (Ancientchristian.com).
The head of our editorial division as well as the head of the Original Languages Version of the Commentary report to me as we work with the volume editors to provide research, ensure accuracy of their matierial and provide for further translation into other languages.I also work with our Translations Coordinator in negotiations and contracts with foreign publishers (Spanish, Russian, Chinese, Arabic, Italian, German) as we translate this ecumenical project into the languages of the majority of the world.Thisentails some travel, at times. In addition, I work with our acquisitions person to ensure timely Manuscript submission from our editors.Their initial royalty payments are also initiated out of this office as are all agreements and monies which are spent on behalf of the ACCS.Our relationship with our publisher, InterVarsity Press, is an important component of the Operations Manager’s position, as well.Monthly and yearly reports are prepared for our funding organization too.I also oversee the hiring of Drew Graduate students to work for the project and ultimately fill in translating, editing, or whatever else needs to be done.
