Late October 2000, Dave, Jon, and I went to Chiller Theatre's Halloween convention. Many famous sci-fi and horror people were around, and there were some cool vendors as well.

On our way to Chiller Theatre, we saw a traffic accident. Noone was injured, unlike the last accident I saw.
Here I am with James Doohan, who played Scotty in Star Trek. I got to shake his four-fingered right hand. He's eighty years old at this point, a World War II vet, but still alive and kicking. Signed Dave's copy of his biography for free, told us a couple of stories such as the one behind a promo photo he had.

You might remember this man from Benson or Star Trek Voyager.

I asked him where his loyalties lied for the Subway Series, all he said was that his team lost. Poor, poor Mets fan.

The older man in the center of this blurry shot is Garret, the spoonhead tailor from Deep Space Nine.
Tom Harris is the blurry man in sunglasses and leather at the end of the table. The spoonhead is organizing his photos to the left.
The giant from the Addams Family.
See how freakin' tall he is?

Billy Dee Williams, Lando himself, was there. He seemed really out of it, like someone clubbed him in the head the night before.

He had a piece of artwork on display that he had drawn, his interpretation of the movie. Lando was the main character, and Luke seemed overwhelmingly happy for some unknown reason.

I really had to resist the urge to ask him, "What's a nubian?"

Tom Savini, aka Sex Machine, was on hand as well. The little crotch gun on the table was great to see. Dave and Jon were busy talking to Uncle Owen and watching him eat his lunch while I looked at Sex Machine's stuff.
