Whatever software you use, you should have no problem opening documents sent as attached .rtf files (actually, if you work on a MacIntosh computer at an off campus location and use Web Access to get to drew with Netscape you'll have a problem. But I bet I'm the only one who fits that description). Just click on the essay and your software will convert the document. If that doesn't work, open if from within your word-processing software. If that doesn't work, send me an email message telling me so!
Wordperfect users (who use Netscape Communicator):
1) write a wonderful essay as you usually would,
2) make sure your name is on it!
3) save it on your C:/drive, F:/drive, a disk, or all three
4) go to "save as" in the file menu
5) name the document with your last name
6) select "file type" in the little window under the name, and
scroll up to "Rich Text Format (RTF)"
7) save the new document somewhere you'll be able to find it
again
8) go back to email and hit "reply all" to this message
9) compose a brief message telling us that you are attaching
your essay
10) select "Attach" from the icon menu above the addresses
11) select "file" from the drop down menu that will appear
12) from the window that opens, find your essay and select it
Now just hit send

Follow commands (1) through (7)
Use your own program to reply to us all and attach the essay.
