Mon. January 28:  Classes begin; begin add/drop period 
Wed., Feb 27: Last day to drop first half-semester courses with a "W."
Fri., March 8: Spring recess begins at 5:00 p.m.; residences close at 7:00 p.m.
Fri., March 8: English 2 first half of the semester sections end.
Fri., March 8: English 1 mid-term portfolios due by 5 pm.
Mon., March 18: Classes resume
Mon., March 18: English 2 second half of the semester classes begin
Fri., March 28:  Good Friday, no classes 
Fri., April 5: Last day to drop full semester course with a "W" instead of a "U"
Fri., April 19: Last day to drop second half semester courses with a "W" instead of a "U"
Mon., May. 6: Last classes meet. (if you teach Mon, Wed, Fri, or Mon, Wed, meet as normal)
Tues., May 7: Reading day, no classes.
Wed., May 8: Reading day, no classes.
Wed., May 8: English 1 final portfolios due by 5 pm.
Thur., May. 9: Final Examinations begin.
Wed., May 15 Last day of final examination, semester ends. Residence halls close at 12:00 noon on
Thursday, May 16 except for graduates. 

English 1 portfolio evaluation:  
Saturday, March 9, from 10 am to 4 pm;  and 
Thursday May 9, from 10 am to 4 pm (to be confirmed)

Multicultural Awareness Week this semester is October 1-5, and the topic is "The Future of Multiculturalism:  Drew and Beyond." We are invited to consider a number of different aspects of this topic including how "mixed race" people classify themselves, the impact of biological research on the concept "race," the role of ethnic pride as both a positive and a negative force (from identity to genocide), the concept of "diversity," and life on Drew's campus.  Classes will not be canceled for this week, but events will be planned for lunchtime, late afternoon, and evening every day (including a talk by the author of this year's common reading--The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down--Anne Fadiman).  Faculty are encouraged to include at least one event from the week in their courses in some way and to attend events along with their students.
