Priority Abuse

Ability: Guts Tyrogue is all about priority. This makes him a pretty decent lead, as well as a counter to faster Sash users like Pichu. Fake Out breaks Sashes on other setup leads or Pokemon, who he can then proceed to finish with Mach Punch, or, in the case of Ralts or bugs, Bullet Punch. HP Flying gives him something to do when bulky bugs switch in on him. The 4 Spe lets him tie other zero-investment base 35s (since he loses a point there for HP Flying).
Item: Focus Sash

Wallbreaking

Ability: Guts Tyrogue can deal a significant amount of damage to a lot of different walls in the game. Brick Break kills the bulky normals, while HP Flying has a decent chance of OHKOing the cocoons. Only Wooper can avoid a 2HKO from Tyrogue. Tyrogue is a good Pokemon to put a huge opening in your opponent's defense. With Fake Out and Priority, he's also a good check or revenge-killer for fast frail sweepers. This Tyrogue is all about coming in mid-game and changing the direction of the battle.
Item: Life Orb
Nature: Naughty
EVs: 252 Atk, 248 SpA, 8 Spe
Moves: - Fake Out
- Brick Break
- HP Flying
- Mach Punch / Bullet Punch

Bulk Up

Ability: Guts Tyrogue can try to be bulky using a Bulk Up set. Rock Slide gives you a good physical way to hit all those nasty bugs, though it will hit the cocoons on their physical side. Brick Break hits slower bulky normals and anything else that isn't a bug. Mach Punch hits harder in general to fast threats you need to remove, but Bullet Punch lets you get rid of Ralts who might otherwise take you out.

EVs: 252 HP, 252 Atk, 4 Def
Moves: - Bulk Up
- Rock Slide
- Brick Break
- Bullet Punch / Mach Punch

Pure Guts Abuse

Ability: Guts If you don't want to risk losing because of Tyrogue's sub-par bulk, you can just go for a straight up attacking set. Fake Out lets you activate Flame Orb without relying on Protect, and also deals some damage and breaks Sashes. Rock Slide deals significant damage to the bug walls that resist you, but still fails to 2HKO the cocoons without prior damage. Brick Break is there to ruin anything that doesn't resist you. And as before, it comes down to the Mach Punch / Bullet Punch choice for your final move. This set is a good way to clean up a damaged team.
