How similar are the
Arts and the Sciences? There are a number of topics, some of which are
listed below, which need to be explored in order to answer this question.
You and a partner will ask a question concerning the topic of your choice.
Each of you will choose opposite views to research. You will each be responsible
for a paper supporting your viewpoint. Afterwards, you and your partner
together will decide which viewpoint you most agree with, providing a written
summary supporting your joint decision. Sources to use for your research
will come from the internet, published literature and interviews that you
will conduct.

| Interviews |
The connections, or assumed
lack of connections, between art and science, are perpetuated by the way
art and science are perceived by the public. In an effort to understand
how art and science are percieved beyond our classroom, you will be conducting
a set of interviews. The questions to be asked and to whom you will
be asking them will be determined by the class. We will then try
to interpret the answers within the context of our class discussions and
readings.
