1.  How would you define science?  
Science is something technical. No abstract thinking is required  
How would you define art?  
Art is “Putting something of yourself out for others to see.”

2.  What drew you towards art?  
I have always liked telling stories.  It is a natural thing for me.  
Why do you think scientists are drawn to their field?  
Some people prefer order.  Some people think in a very orderly way.

I would like to be remembered mostly.  Somewhere I would like to be in print, even if it isn’t a New York times best seller.

Scientists strive to make great contributions in their field.

why?  
Everything everyone does is creative.  I take the definition of creative differently. Literarily, to create something, to make something new.

Yes, scientists create new theories, hypothesis, and experiments to test their hypotheses.

5. To what degree do emotions play a role in your work if at all?  
Emotions play a large role in what I do.  It has a profound impact on the quality of the production and its content.   
To what degree do you think emotions play a role in science?  
I suppose emotion also plays a role in the scientist’s life.  Your emotion can send you off in different directions, discourage you from something only to come back to it later with fresh ideas.  It doesn’t play the same role as it does in art, but it is defiantly there.

6.  What is beauty?  
I believe that beauty is “in the eye of the beholder.”  It is about things, concept and ideas coming together in a certain way.   
Do you find beauty in art?  
Yes, beauty is defiantly in art, but that wasn’t its only goal.  
Do you find beauty in science?  
Yes, there is beauty in science, in helping others, through technology and medical science.

7.  Do you think art and science are related?  If so, how?  If not, why?  
Art and science are defiantly related in so many ways.  One example would be science fiction encompassing the art of creating a story and the science on which it is based.

Both are equally important.  Science heals physically while art heals emotionally.

9.  When you are observing nature, what thoughts come to mind?  
The first thing that comes to mind is beauty.  Nature provides the inspiration for people, both artist and scientist, to create things.

The study of the physical matter of the known universe

he study and/or expression of the spiritual aspects of the unknown universe.

I originally was interested in premed.

Since I am now interested in enviormnetal science, I would like to do something that can possibly help the planet.

Artists seek to be able to influence people in a variety of different ways.

why?  
Scientists discover new things all of the time.  In order to come up with new hypotheses to test or projects to work on, creativty is a must.  
Do you think art is creative? If so, how? If not, why?  
For both disciplines, creativty is very important.  Artists are creative in the ways in which they choose to express emotion.

5.  To what degree do emotions play a role in your work if at all?  
At first, a scientist does not show emotion in their work.  Once the material is learned, and there are practical applications for what has been learned, it is possible that there is a large amount of emotion involved.  
To what degree do you think emotions play a role in art/?  
Yes, an artist’s goal is to express emotion.

6.  What is beauty?  
Beauty is sensory, it is to each individual what they find pleasing.  
Do you find beauty in art?  
Yes, while you can find beauty in art.  I don’t think this is (art’s) only goal.  
Do you find beauty in science?  
Rarely can you find beauty in science, perhaps in nature.

7. Do you think art and science are related?  If so, how?  If not, why?  
I don’t think they are extremely related, except to say, that in both fields, dedication, and to a certian extent, skill is important.  In art, you can be creative right away.  Wheras, in science, it takes learning and discipline before you can create your own ideas.

8.  Which do you think plays a greater role: science in art or art in science?  
Through technology, I think there is more science in art: In the media and methods used to create art.

9.  When you are observing nature, what thoughts come to mind?  
I think mostly artist thoughts, not scientific.  I see beauty in nature and the people around there.  I see the beauty in the patterns that emerge from the light and shadow, the way the sun reflects off things.

Money is not a large issue, neither is fame.  Science is about understanding everything you can about your chosen field.

Science is a different way of thinking about problems.  It is a method that is very structured and methodical.   
How would you define art?  
Art is creativity, manifested in different media.

Scientists are not necessarily drawn to a specific subject matter.  It is more so that they find that methodical way of thinking appealing.   
Why do you think artists are drawn to their field?  
Artists are intune with their brain, probably the more developed part.  I am sure talent must be involved somewhere.  It is different process of discovery, one that they are accustomed to.

Scientists aim to discover new things, new ideas or ways of thinking.

Artists seek to achieve immortality through their works.

No, science requires a rigidity of thought that does not lend itself to creativity.

Yes, artists are creative.  They achieve a level of aesthetic beauty that wouldn’t be possible without creativity.

Artists use emotion in different ways.  Some attempt to control its expression in their work, whereas others express their own emotions freely.

Science in art plays a greater role Science has more to do with our lives, it creates so much of the environment in which we live.  Art is just a commentary on our lives and so is subject to change with progress ins science.

When I see nature, I see it for its artistic aspects.  It’s beauty provides inspiration for artists.
